Professional Film Production and outfitting in Tanzania

If you have read the introduction as to what Bush2Beach Safaris is all about, you will have gathered that we specialise in travel and mobile safaris throughout the whole of Tanzania. It is with over 2 decades of experience and discovery that we can offer excellent filming locations already scouted & mapped out prior to your arrival. We offer full logistical support along with assistance in securing film permits, equipment waivers and customs issues.
Applications from abroad can take an eternity; Bush2Beach Safaris can smooth out all necessary, required permits so you can concentrate on your own logistics in getting the Film Crew over here.

A brief overview of some of the expeditions we have been involved with over the years:
February 2003 – Warren Macdonald
Warren Macdonald, an avid climber and adventurer, lost both of his legs during a backpacking trip to Hinchinbrook Island, off the northeast coast of Australia. A life changing experience but not one that stopped him from pursuing his dreams. In February 2003, he became the first double above-knee amputee to reach the summit of Africa’s tallest peak, Mt Kilimanjaro (19,222ft), over the course of a 21 day expedition – a world record in itself.
Bush2Beach Safaris was contracted to provide logistical and organisational support during this climb.

September 2007, 2P2L – Pourquoi Pas La Lune / Kilimandjaro, au-dela des limites
Back in June 2007 we received a call from 2p2l film productions who were planning on creating a production of a special needs group on their adventure s to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The essence of the expedition was to head progressively in a Northern direction through unforgiving Maasai lands taking and tackling all problems en-route, including a flying fox across a 100metre wide canyon, canoeing across Little Momela Lake in Arusha National park and an exciting horse riding safari through the wilds of west Kilimanjaro, followed by an attempt to summit Africa’s highest peak.
For this expedition Bush2Beach Safaris, in close contact with the production team, designed and mapped (using GPS equipment) the entire route; organised and setup bushcamps, arranged for all needed permits and, once the production team arrived in country, provided all logistical support.
The expedition and obstacles, easy to tackle for some whereas for others it required solid determination, 100% focus along with the efforts and support of the more able bodied team members, took a gruelling 3 weeks under some of the harshest un-forgiving conditions, and was a massive logistical operation – not only moving the 10 disabled participants safely through the bush but also providing for catering and ensuring the 35 film crew where feed, watered and ready for the next set of filming with each new day.
Prior to Kilimanjaro we had the luxury of 4 x 4 vehicle support consisting of 11 fully kitted, loaded safari vehicles and trailers to move the portable production camp and contestants camp which at all times needed to be kept separate and hidden from the Bush 2 Beach logistics film camp, a tad difficult in the Maasai bush lands when the tallest tree can be 20ft tall only and void of all vegetation usually offering some sort of camouflage, however on the whole we managed.
The biggest challenge no-doubt for all was Kilimanjaro, with the loss of vehicle support each and everything had to be carried by a 161 strong porter team!! Finally setting a base camp for charging batteries and editing work at Horombo, the film crew, medics and participants were guided up the mountain by 5 head guides and the same in assistant guides over a 13 day challenge with 5 of the more able bodied participants reaching the summit others reaching 5000metres and 5300 metres retrospectively before they were turned back for safety reason. As with Newton’s law what goes up must come down and concerns to safety where priority at this late stage in the trek with all spare energy banks now depleted.
The listing on their website for this production is here; you can view a sample of the production here:
