Our Vehicles

Our fleet of 4 x 4 safari vehicles is made up of well maintained Land-Rover TDI’s and Toyota Land-Cruisers, specially adapted for use on safari. Both types of vehicles have proven themselves worthy on the unpredictable Tanzanian roads (and often, what passes for roads) and offer un-obstructed views for all passengers.

Our safari vehicles come in different sizes; the standard Land-Rover and Land-Cruisers offer comfortable space to up to 5  people and our extended Land-Cruisers seat up to 7*. Because of these maximum numbers per vehicle, every single occupant is assured of his or her own window-seat, easy access to the opened roof for game viewing and ample leg-room during the drives to and from.

Seating arrangement Land-Rovers and Landcruisers         Seating arrangement Stretched Landcruisers

* On “lodge-only”, “lodge & tented camp” or “mobile fly-camping” safaris you will only need a driver whereas using a eco (budget)-camping or mixed lodge /camping option, you will also be accompanied by a cook, hence the difference in seating capacity.

Because realistically, on the gravel and bush-roads you’ll encounter on safari punctures happen, and from time to time mechanical problems occur, all vehicles are equipped with spare tires and all the tools needed to get you back on track in the shortest possible time.

Besides being experienced drivers, our driver/guides are trained to perform small repairs and in the rare case that outside help is needed, we’ll send a replacement vehicle straight away so your safari can continue without any problems.

All vehicles are fitted for safari with:

  • a full-size pop-up roof, or game viewing hatches with shade-cloth,
  • VHF-radio call for communication in the parks,
  • 2 x 220 Volt A/C outlets (UK, 3-pin type) to charge your equipment whilst on the move,
  • 2 spare tires, a bottle-jack and hi-lift (or Simba)-jack,
  • emergency tool kit, tow-rope and jump-leads,
  • a (removable) fridge, and
  • first aid kit.

The original safari vehicle. All of our Land-Rovers are fitted with three opening game-viewing roof hatches and a canvas shade-cloth.

Our Land-Rovers offer luggage space behind the rear seats and a roof-rack for camping gear. Their comfortable ride, on- and off-road is offset by them offering slightly smaller leg-room then Land Cruisers.

Ample luggage space behind the seats, a roof rack for camping gear and a large fridge for those cool drinks at your picnic spot.

Supply Vehicles

Whilst you are enjoying your game-drive during one of our mobile fly-camping safaris, your camp crew and cook are moving ahead to your selected location for the night with a specially prepared supply car.

Custom built to endure the rough terrain of the Tanzanian bush, they take all equipment, food and luggage, freeing your safari car (and especially the roof) for unlimited game-viewing.

4×4 Car-hire & Self Drive

If you are looking for a self-drive holiday combining freedom with a feeling of independence, we will gladly assist you in putting together a suitable safari. We’ll help you with the overall planning and purchasing of food supplies, we’ll provide all necessary camping equipment or arrange your hotel accommodation on the way.

We are a little particular and strict in handing over the keys to one of our fully rigged 4 x4 vehicles, mainly because there are many factors out there that can turn an adventure self drive holiday into a nightmare and a costly rescue mission. Click here to read more about this type of adventure

Customised Transport

We would not pride ourselves on our custom-made solutions if we would not be able to accommodate nearly every request for transportation. We offer, for instance, a number of 4×4 trailers which can be converted for specialist adventures, such as the one where we took the World Rider’s Off-Road bike through the Serengeti, for him to continue his world-riding travels after his safari with us.
