Arusha National Park
Arusha National Park, at only 45 minutes from Arusha, is great for day trips or weekend get-aways. You can climb Mt. Meru ’s impressive peak standing at 4566mts, a 3 – 4 days trek with the best views of Kilimanjaro and accommodation in mountain huts. Or choose from the half day walking safaris with armed rangers or go on a canoeing safari around Momela lake to get close to water buffalo, hippo and many types of water birds, including lesser east African flamingo.

Mount Meru, lakes, rolling hills, lush forest, Ngurdoto crater, little Serengeti, zebra, waterbuck, bushbuck, warthog, wild pig, giraffe, dik dik, elephant, buffalo, hippo, hyena, leopard, sykes ( blue) monkey, vervet monkey, baboon, black and white colobus, bush babies. Great birding, butterflies, chameleons and smaller reptiles.
