Rubondo Island
Rubondo Island N.P tucked in the southwest corner of Lake Victoria – Photographic safaris, nature walks, forest walks, chimp tracking, fish breeding grounds, humid forest; grassland, lakeside. Features
The shaggy-coated aquatic sitatunga antelope – Flocks of African grey parrots – released onto the island after they were confiscated from illegal exporters. Malachite kingfisher, paradise flycatcher, herons, storks and spoonbills, supplemented by thousands of Eurasian migrants during the northern winter. Yellow-spotted otters, Nile perch, hippo, vervet monkey, genet and mongoose – share their protected habitat with introduced species such as chimpanzee, black-and-white colobus, elephant and giraffe.
